Our Butterbeer Recipe (make sure you click on “Apparate!” to see the full recipe) is without a doubt the most popular visit on Harry Potter Time. If you’ve tried it, and don’t like it, here’s another Butterbeer recipe you might enjoy… it’s got ice cream in it!
Butterbeer
1 pint of vanilla ice cream, softened
1/2 stick (4 tablespoons) butter, at room temperature
1/3 cup light brown sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1 bottle (3 cups) sparkling apple cider
Allow ice cream to soften, about 30 minutes, and bring butter to room temperature, about 2 hours.
Cream together butter, sugar and spices in large bowl. Add to ice cream and refreeze. Heat sparkling cider in a pot until warm but still carbonated (at least 3 minutes). Fill each glass with a generous scoop of ice cream mixture and pour warmed cider over ice cream. It will foam like beer, hence the name.
Serves six.

We can stop holding our breath now: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is here!

Book Wholesalers, Inc., a book supplier to U.S. public libraries, has posted a small report on their recently received shipment of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” including a tiny picture of the backside jacket. If you’re trying to stay spoiler-free, you might want to pass on this one although it’s nearly impossible to see any detail. UPDATE: Scholastic has officially released a higher quality version of just the art on the back side.

70 very lucky children will be invited to join JK Rowling on July 16th to launch Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Aged between 8 and 16, the children will travel in horse-drawn carriages to Edinburgh Castle, and will take home their very own signed copy of the book.
